Pink Floyd themed ‘Cold Case’ episode – date change

Cold CaseAn update has been posted this afternoon on the Pink Floyd Facebook page, concerning the airing of the Pink Floyd themed episode of US televison drama, ‘Cold Case’.

The US debut screening of the episode in question – ‘Flashover’ (specifically season 7, episode 17) – will now be on March 21st at 10pm EST (Eastern Standard Time) on the CBS Network. The series runs on Sky 3 in the UK, and in a number of other countries, including the Netherlands, Argentina, Chile, Hungary and Spain, but we have no information yet on specific dates, times, or networks. Please check your local TV listings for airing details.

Concert Pink Floyd Project in openluchttheater Tegelen (L)

Vrijdagavond 4 juni 2010 geeft Pink Floyd Project, na De Groene Ster (Leeuwarden) en de Teatertún (Rijs) weer een groot openluchtconcert.
Dit vindt plaats in theater De Doolhof in het Limburgse Tegelen.

Een schitterende locatie met meer dan 3000 (overdekte) zitplaatsen !

Op het programma staat in ieder geval de complete vertolking van Pink Floyd´s meesterwerk “The Darkside Of The Moon”. Mis het dus niet!

Helaas houdt 1 van de zangeressen

er mee op, dus we zoeken een vervangster.

Handig is dat je noten kan lezen (ivm de weinige repetities), en dat je uit ’t noorden van het land komt.

Echter zoeken we deze keer wel iemand die het nummer “The Great Gig In The Sky” kan zingen.

Een uitdaging voor iedereen !

Roger gaat op tournee !!

Via het management is indirect vernomen dat Roger Waters eind 2010 in de Verenigde Staten op tournee is. Of Roger ook Europa aan zal doen is nog niet bekend. Al eerder gingen er diverse geruchten dat Roger met het concept ‘The Wall’ op tour zou gaan. Nu wordt dat dus bevestigd door zijn management.

Op diverse fora op internet zijn al afbeeldingen te bekijken met als thema de
‘The Wall tour 2010′.

David Gilmour – On An Island live on BBC Radio 2Astonishingly it was almost four years ago that David Gilmour recorded a very special, exclusive concert for the BBC, at London’s Mermaid Theatre. On March 7th, 2006, in front of an audience of competition winners, and a handful of David’s family and friends, a full house had the pleasure of seeing a wonderful performance which was aired on BBC Radio 2, with highlights of the show viewable online and on BBC Interactive TV at that time.

This coming Saturday evening (January 23rd) at 10pm, you have another chance of listening to the hour-long presentation on BBC Radio 2, which can be heard in a number of ways. Those in the UK and Europe can receive the station via FM or DAB radios, or via satellite, cable and freeview TV systems. Supergrass side project Hot Rats covers Syd Barrett’s “Bike”

With the Supergrass bass player sidelined due to a back injury, the band’s other two members set out as a duo playing cover versions at a number of club gigs. With the feedback from the shows being so favourable, the duo – Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey – were encouraged to record some of their favourite tunes.

The result – Turn Ons by The Hot Rats – is an album to be released on January 25th, that is akin to David Bowie’s Pin Ups, and the pair cannot hide the fact that their influences are clearly similar to The Thin White Duke’s. The album is an eclectic mix of tracks, including The Doors “The Crystal Ship”, Roxy Music’s “Love Is The Drug”, David Bowie’s “Queen Bitch”, and the Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd’s “Bike”, which they performed recently in a special BBC radio session to great acclaim.

Bekende drummers trommelen voor goed doel

Een aantal bekende drummers laten zich zaterdag van hun goede kant zien. De trommelaars zetten zich door middel van een film in voor vrede in Sudan, meldt het Britse muziektijdschrift NME.

Onder meer Phil Selway van Radiohead, Pink Floyds Nick Mason, Stewart Copeland van The Police en Jonny Quinn van Snow Patrol slaan een maatje mee in het vredesfilmpje. De drummers hopen met de film wereldleiders op te roepen iets te doen aan het bloedvergieten in het Afrikaanse land.

All You Need Is Love – single release.

The CD single release of All You Need Is Love, the star-studded song performed in aid of the 2009 BBC Children In Need fundraiser, has now been released and is finally in good supply in stores now. With the proceeds going to such a good cause, the CD single is well worth buying even if you already have the album itself (called “Bandaged Together”) as it features no less than three different versions of the track – the full track, the Pudsey Mix, and the Chapel Edit – all featuring the drumming and vocal of Nick Mason!

As you’ll see, it features the multitude of musicians in the studio, all clearly having a whale of a time. It’s the happiest Nick Mason performance we’ve seen for some time!

Opera Roger Waters opnieuw in Nederland!

De Noord-Hollandse Joke Tuinema wil voor de tweede keer de opera ‘Ça Ira’ op het podium zetten. Het enorme muziekstuk van Roger Waters wil zij uit gaan voeren ten bate van ‘Moed‘, de nieuwe naam voor de Stichting Tegen Zinloos Geweld. Dit maal zal de naam van het project zijn: ‘Ça Ira Moed’.

Anderhalf jaar geleden lukte het Joke Tuinema al om Ça Ira met een symfonieorkest en koor te brengen in het World Forum Theater in Den Haag.

Joke Tuinema neemt nu weer het initiatief vanwege de dood van de 14-jarige Urkse jongen, Dirk Post. Dirk was de zoon van de tenor André Post die één van de hoofdrollen in de opera in Nederland vertolkte.

Joke Tuinema was vorige week zo getroffen door de dood van Dirk Post dat ze direct alle deelnemers van anderhalf jaar geleden heeft opgeroepen mee te doen. Onder hen zijn de bariton Ernst Daniël Smid en sopraan Karin ten Cate. Ook André Post heeft zijn medewerking toegezegd.

Joke Tuinema heeft er lang voor moeten knokken voordat ze eindelijk de rechten van Roger Waters kreeg. Inmiddels heeft Joke de toestemming om de opera een tweede keer uit te voeren. De bedoeling was om dat in de Duitse stad Hannover te doen. Echter heeft helaas de actualiteit van een zinloze moord haar doen besluiten de opera in Nederland uit te voeren ten bate van ‘Moed’.

Joke heeft nog geen dirigent en koor gevonden maar ze heeft wel, zoals ze zelf stelt, de rechten en de muziek van Waters. De verwachting is dat de uitvoering eind 2010 gerealiseerd moet worden. Vanuit Urk verwacht Joke alle medewerking. Inmiddels is er een special;e website in de maak: www.cairamoed.nl

Met betrekking tot de communicatie zal de Roger Waters Fanpage een belangrijke rol spelen.
