All You Need Is Love – single release.

The CD single release of All You Need Is Love, the star-studded song performed in aid of the 2009 BBC Children In Need fundraiser, has now been released and is finally in good supply in stores now. With the proceeds going to such a good cause, the CD single is well worth buying even if you already have the album itself (called “Bandaged Together”) as it features no less than three different versions of the track – the full track, the Pudsey Mix, and the Chapel Edit – all featuring the drumming and vocal of Nick Mason!

As you’ll see, it features the multitude of musicians in the studio, all clearly having a whale of a time. It’s the happiest Nick Mason performance we’ve seen for some time!

De Noord-Hollandse Joke Tuinema wil voor de tweede keer de opera ‘Ça Ira’ op het podium zetten. Het enorme muziekstuk van Roger Waters wil zij uit gaan voeren ten bate van ‘Moed‘, de nieuwe naam voor de Stichting Tegen Zinloos Geweld. Dit maal zal de naam van het project zijn: ‘Ça Ira Moed’.

Anderhalf jaar geleden lukte het Joke Tuinema al om Ça Ira met een symfonieorkest en koor te brengen in het World Forum Theater in Den Haag.

Joke Tuinema neemt nu weer het initiatief vanwege de dood van de 14-jarige Urkse jongen, Dirk Post. Dirk was de zoon van de tenor André Post die één van de hoofdrollen in de opera in Nederland vertolkte.

Joke Tuinema was vorige week zo getroffen door de dood van Dirk Post dat ze direct alle deelnemers van anderhalf jaar geleden heeft opgeroepen mee te doen. Onder hen zijn de bariton Ernst Daniël Smid en sopraan Karin ten Cate. Ook André Post heeft zijn medewerking toegezegd.

Joke Tuinema heeft er lang voor moeten knokken voordat ze eindelijk de rechten van Roger Waters kreeg. Inmiddels heeft Joke de toestemming om de opera een tweede keer uit te voeren. De bedoeling was om dat in de Duitse stad Hannover te doen. Echter heeft helaas de actualiteit van een zinloze moord haar doen besluiten de opera in Nederland uit te voeren ten bate van ‘Moed’.

Joke heeft nog geen dirigent en koor gevonden maar ze heeft wel, zoals ze zelf stelt, de rechten en de muziek van Waters. De verwachting is dat de uitvoering eind 2010 gerealiseerd moet worden. Vanuit Urk verwacht Joke alle medewerking. Inmiddels is er een special;e website in de maak: www.cairamoed.nl

Met betrekking tot de communicatie zal de Roger Waters Fanpage een belangrijke rol spelen.

DSOTM 2008 prism (Lightwave International)Our congratulations to the team behind the incredible 3D laser prism that formed the climax of Roger Waters’ 2008 The Dark Side Of The Moon tour – the effect won an award in the prestigious 2009 ILDA Awards. The ceremony, held in Amsterdam, saw the International Laser Display Association give the industry’s equivalent of a Hollywood Oscar to the design team for first place in the Live Stage Performance category.

For those who weren’t able to see the show, the world’s largest full-colour lasers re-created the iconic Pink Floyd prism in laser light. The famous cover artwork from DSOTM was concepualized as a laser artform by lighting designer Marc Brickman, and realised by Lightwave International and ETG. Over 100 Watts of full colour lasers were used to magically transform an abstract set piece into a rotating tetrahedron towering above the audience. There, it rotated and emitted Pink Floyd’s famous white beam and rainbow.

De sessie die Pink Floyd in 1967 deed voor BBC’s Top Of The Pops is weer boven water. Lang werden de opnames als verloren beschouwd omdat de BBC in die dagen de tapes simpelweg bij het vuil gooide.

Naast deze opnames van Pink Floyd met Syd Barrett in de gelederen, werden in die jaren zo’n beetje alle opnames van Top Of The Pops al snel weggegooid. De banden namen volgens de BBC namelijk te veel ruimte in en dat zou alleen maar geld kosten.

De opname van het nummer See Emily Play die nu in handen is van het British Film Intitute komt uit de collectie van een priv�verzamelaar. De band moest wel worden gerestaureerd omdat de kwaliteit zeer te wensen overliet.

Komend jaar worden de beelden aan het publiek getoond.

I was wondering when they would finally be releasing the video they were filming at the concerts! I seem to remember one big camera at stage front right on a big boom swinging over my head!
New Pink Floyd/Roger Waters Website

I mentioned in one of the NPF Newsletters a few weeks ago that Roger’s website had been taken down and replaced with a Sony EMI generic graphic instead of the previous website. Well, I can now confirm that he is keeping very busy indeed and working on a new Pink Floyd website.

His manager said, “In case you were wondering why Roger’s website is closed, its because we’re working on a Pink Floyd Website on which the individual members will also feature.”
