The album is likely to be in the very early stages so it is not likely to be released any time soon.

Pink Floyd The Wall – hammersTo help celebrate the 30th anniversary of its release, the well-respected interviewer Redbeard makes Pink Floyd The Wall the subject of a two-part, two-hour special airing the weeks of November 16th, 2009, and November 23rd, 2009 on his “In The Studio” show.
The show will feature interviews with Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason, all looking back at the album, and so shouldn’t be missed!
In its 21st year, “In The Studio” is a weekly hour-long “rockumentary” syndicated each week to over 85 US cities, and listenable online worldwide. More details, including airing times, can be found at InTheStudio.net. Click on the tab at the top of the homepage marked “On the Radio” for the station in your area; there’s a link to each station’s website for exact day, time, and radio frequency. If there’s not a station in your area, and you are unable to tune in online, Redbeard normally posts the entire interview on his website after it has aired. Our thanks to Terrence Reardon for the information on this interview.

Unusual Pink Floyd cover version being released
‘Lost In Dreams’, the new album from vocalist Curtis Stigers to be released on September 28th [Europe] / 29th [North America] includes a cover of “Vera”, from Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The original, of course, features Roger’s plaintive vocal, making reference to the World War Two “Forces’ Sweetheart” Dame Vera Lynn (who incidentally has just topped the UK album charts at the impressive age of 92 – the oldest living artist to do so).
“Vera” is not a track that has been covered often (to our knowledge); Stigers’ vocal style works well on the track, a sample of which can be heard via the album page here.

Pink Floyd “Magicians, Alchemists and Billionaires”

October 1st, 2009, sees the publication in France of new book “Pink Floyd Magiciens, alchimistes et milliardaires” (which translates as “Magicians, Alchemists and Billionaires”) by author Jean-Michel Oullion. Oullion is a respected music biographer, having written histories of Led Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen and Moby, and is a self-confessed big fan of Pink Floyd.
The book, written in French, is said to give a full retrospective of the Pink Floyd saga, detailed analysis of all the band’s albums and solo excusions, and looks at many of the key personnel who have been instrumental in their story. It also covers some of the trivia relating to the band, such as the asteroid named after them, and the circumstance of the band being banned for life from London’s Royal Albert Hall after letting off a cannon during “A Saucerful of Secrets”.
More information on this title as we get it; in the meantime, it can be preordered from Amazon France and Amazon Canada. Our thanks to Ddondestan for the info.

Harry Waters confirms participation in The Wall 2009
Coming up at the end of next month (October 31st, 2009) is an elaborate, and one-off, staging of The Wall live. Tying in with the 30th anniversary of the album release, the show will aim to recreate elements of the concerts held in 1980/81 to a privileged few.
The show is a little different to other Wall tribute shows there have been, as this one has – rather uniquely – the added talents of Harry Waters on keyboards. Roger’s son has agreed to take part in the show, which is being held at the 18,000 seater O2 Arena in Prague.
Organized by musician Filip Benesovský and his friends, the concert will be the biggest and most expensive music show this year held in the Czech Republic. The music will be played by a 20-member group, playing electric and classical instruments, and joining them will be a children’s choir too.
Tickets for the show are available now direct from www.O2Arena.cz, and more information on the show and performers can be found at www.TheWall2009.cz.
