Het concert van Pink Floyd Project op 4 juni in Tegelen, gaat helaas niet door.

Door verschillende omstandigheden, heeft de organisatie moeten besluiten de kaartverkoop te moeten staken.

We vinden dit ontzettend jammer, mede doordat de locatie werkelijk een prachtige plek was geweest om een show van Pink Floyd Project uit te voeren, en de kaartverkoop succesvol was.

Om de mensen die reeds een kaart hebben gekocht tegemoet te komen, blijven  de gekochte kaarten via Music Store, Free Record Shop en Primera en via de online ticketshop, geldig voor het eerstvolgende concert van de band op 26 augustus, op het strand van Lemmer, tijdens het 1^e Glemmer Festival!

Voor al deze tot nu toe gekochte kaarten geldt, dat de kaart geldig is voor 2 personen. U mag dus met 2 personen naar binnen op vertoon van de ticket, die voor het concert op 4 juni in Tegelen geldig was.

Mocht u niet kunnen komen om welke reden dan ook, krijgt u vanzelfsprekend de entreegelden terug gestort.

Alle mensen die online een kaart hebben gekocht, benaderen wij via email. Mocht u kaarten hebben gekocht bij Music Store, Free Record Shop of Primera, en niet kunnen komen, kunt u de kaarten sturen naar het volgende adres:

Roger Waters (zanger en bassist van Pink Floyd) heeft zich verontschuldigt omdat hij de Elliott Smith’s tribute wall in LA ‘beschadigd’ zou hebben.

The controversy began when LA Weekly reported that a viral marketing campaign for Waters’ upcoming The Wall Live tour had tagged Smith’s memorial wall.

Since Smith’s suicide in 2003 farewell messages from fans have been written on the wall, at 4334 Sunset Boulevard in LA where Smith posed for the Figure 8 album.

The wall has been repainted several times in the last few years, however the viral marketing strategy which involved pasting up a quote by Dwight Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States, on several ‘significant walls’ around LA including the Smith memorial has angered Smith’s fans.

A statement from Waters responding to the controversy declares that the decision to paste the advertising on the wall was “absolutely an accident.”

Waters explains that he “didn’t want to disrespect Elliott Smith’s fans, and I’ve instructed [the marketing team] to remove the wheat paste immediately. It was a random pasting in the normal course of this, and I want to make it public that we had no intent to offend or cover up something precious.”

“It’s not like this was some pristine monument and Roger Waters is the Big Bad Wolf who covered it up. That’s why I was so incensed when I read that [LA Weekly] article that said I paid someone to disrespect Elliott Smith,” Waters said.

“I admit I didn’t know [Smith’s] music, but I’ve talked to people who do and it’s clear he was a young man who felt deeply, and any empathetic person wouldn’t have an issue with publicizing that quote.”

The pacifist Eisenhower quote that has riled up Smith’s fans reads; “Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.”

“I would guess, and this is only a guess,” Waters said, “but it’s my guess that [Smith] would have been sympathetic to [the theme of Eisenhower’s] message.”

Slecht nieuws voor de Pink Floyd liefhebbers. Er zou een musical komen over de bekende band waardoor ze weer samen zouden komen. Bassist Roger Waters kan niet wachten, hij wil graag een reunie en werkt zelfs al samen met scenarioschrijver Ian Hall. Maar het project wordt gedwarsboomd, want gitarist David Gilmour voelt weinig voor het project.

There’s plenty of information flying around about the forthcoming Roger Waters Wall tour of 2010/2011. The latest comes courtesy of Rolling Stone, who bring the good news for all those outside North America that there is the intention of Roger to “move on to Europe for another 57 dates beginning in March.

Waters says he’d like to take the show to other territories, including South America”. Just as soon as we have those dates, we will let you know. We’re also currently getting the tour room ready which will have a page for every single concert, packed with information for that show. For those attending the show, we’ll have full ticketing information for that event, venue details including a map, and more. Each page will also be a repository for your reviews, comments, and photos from the show, and we know that when we’ve done this for previous tours, some VERY important and key personnel from the tour (including the musicians!) have eagerly sought out your views on how the shows have gone!

In other Wall tour news, there’s been confirmation that there will be no female backing singers, as expected, and the backing vocal duties are being carried out by Venice’s Kipp, Mark and Michael Lennon. They’ve confirmed this on their own website.
